Knock off, an italian issue Fake Disruptors FILA x ATIPICI fake from Taiwan to Russia
“ You know you are winning when you see you’re being copied ”, sayd Robin Sharma.
That’s how Atipici team reacted when they found out that their Disruptor The Candy Shop made in collaboration with FILA had been knocked off.
Atipici is one of the most important streetwear retail network in Italy with more than 7 stores only in the North area. In 2018 Atipici celebrated its 15th birthday with the release of two limited editions of the FILA Distruptor low : The Blue Print and The Candy Shop named out from ‘90s hip hop classics of Jay Z and 50 Cent.
These two editions has been made in two different colorways, blue and gray with reflective details for The Blue Print, and pink and baby blue for The Candy Shop, strictly designed for girls.
The Candy Shop release news spread quickly and got reposted by Filipino, Korean, Thai and US blogs, and, on the official pages of FILA EUROPE, FILA UK and FILA PH, they got ten time the amount of likes obtained by similar posts in that time.
The artworks by Larolagosta, Portuguese illustrator and sneakerhead, pushed it even more. In few weeks The Candy Shop were sold out !
And that’s how, some months later, a series of awkward copies started spreading on Philippine, Russian and Chinese blogs, websites and Instagram pages.
The fake Candy Shops are really bad : a dark palette took over of the pastel original one, logos are cropped or replaced, soles and boxes are completely different and sometimes the sneaker has been renamed as Cotton Candy.
The Atipici team, despite the initial astonishment, was almost proud that their shoes has been knocked off as Air Jordan and Yeezy 350 usually used to.
They also chose to respond to the trading of the fakes with a limited re-issue of the Candy Shop; the pre-orders flew off the shells so, ladies, we suggest you to hurry up to get the last ones available from 20th July instore and online.
